Eid Talks

Eid El-Fitr  October 2007/ October 2008

Translated by: Dr. Faheem Bukhatwa.

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Allah is the greatest. Thanks be to Allah, praise Allah at dawn and at dusk.

In the name of Allah most gracious most Merciful

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar,

Allah is the greatest, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

Allah gave us the best book, and bestowed us with the best prophet (PPBU); He made His mercies to us complete with this religion, the Muslim faith.

Yea people, this day is a feast (eid) day for us Muslims. In Islam our feasts are but a worship legitimized by Allah, and His prophet (PPBU) conveyed it us. For us the feasts are two: Eid el-Fitr which comes after the fasting worship and complements it. Fasting is being the third pillar of Islam. And eid Al-Adha sacrifice which comes after the worship of Hajj and complements it. Hajj is being the fourth pillar of Islam. When the prophet (PPBU) came to Madina they had two days during which they played. He said {Allah has replaced for you two better days, they day of Fitr and the day of Adha}. Allah has replaced for this nation the two days of amusement and distraction with two days of remembering and thanking Allah and forgiveness and absolution.

Dear beloved, the beloved prophet (PPBU), in the Eid talk he used to give commandments that were so noble in its meaning. Yet, the talk was so powerful and of wide scope, far reaching, of eloquent lessons and morals, so truthful and purely for advice. The first advice

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar,

Dear beloved, I would give you a word of advice from Allah,  He says:{yea believers, be God-fearing truthfully, and only die as Muslims} and he also said: {Yea believers, be god fearing, and let each soul look at what it did for tomorrow, and be god-fearing, For Allah is so aware with you do}.

He also said: {O' People, be god fearing, and do your five prayers, and fast your month, and give charity for your earnings, and obey when you are commanded, you shall enter paradise.}

The prophet (PPBU) said :{ where ever you happen to be, be god- fearing. And each sin you make, follow it up with a good deed it will wipe it off. And treat people in the best of manners}

God-fearing means fear from Allah, living by the book, content with the little and getting ready for the day of departure..

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

The messenger (PPBU) said: {when Eid Fitr approaches, angels descend down to earth, they stand top of the roads calling with a voice which can be heard by all creatures of Allah except the Jinn and man-kind, they say: yea the nation of Mohammad, come on out to a generous Lord who gives in abundance, and forgives the great sin. And when people assemble to the place of prayer, Allah says to his angles: “My angles, what would be the reward of a worker who does his/her work? They say: Our Lord and our Master, payment of reward in full. Allah says: I shall make you witness that I have made their reward in their fast and Quiam just for my satisfaction and forgiveness. Go for you are forgiven.

The messenger (PPBU) said: {Your have some obligation towards your God, and you have an obligation towards your body, and you have an obligation towards your spouse, and you have an obligation towards your heart}. Have fun on Eid day, bring joy to your families, children and brethrens.

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

The Eid has a Godly meaning and a human meaning. The Godly meaning manifests by relating Eids with Islamic worships. For Eid also contains, prayers, praising of Allah, Glorifying Him, and making thanks to Him.

The human meaning manifests its self in that a human is not to forget about his brother or sister. An individual is not to be joyful in isolation; and not to be selfish, it is not in Islam for an individual to fill his stomach with food, and have a mouth full of laughter, and sleep fills his eyes, and puts on his dining table the best of food and drink while people round him don't have food. It is for this reason the Eid-al-Fitr charity is established. So an individual can cause relief to his neighbours, friends and the poor round him/her. People are not to live in isolation but must cooperate and be united in solidarity.

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

Eid has numerous benefits in faith, in worship, in Islamic law, and benefits in human society, and benefits in this life and the life after.

About the benefits in Faith: The Eid regulations repeats the singularity of Allah for the slaves. And the obligation of Allah towards his creations. For the worship can only be to God. And this Eid contains supplication (duaa), glorifying loving, submission and the following of the guidance. All this is done with pure intentions for Allah.

While the benefits of Eid for Worship: is shown in that the spirit of the Eid reflects the worship of God. For in Eid one becomes humble towards Allah. And worship its self is centered on love, fear and humility or humbleness.

While the benefits for the Islamic law is apparent in the way the obligations and rituals are clearly seen, and the teachings of Islam are announced. Its basis is viewing a visual phenomenon. Its limits are announced, and its rules and regulations are published, and its nature is world wide. And because of this self strength; each day it gets clearer, and spreads wider and it is fixed more solidly. It is as high as the sun, yet as close as its rays are. Thanks be to Allah for making us Muslims and believers.

While the benefits of Eid socially are apparent in the feeling of closeness between Muslims; and disappearance of feelings of animosities, bitterness and grudges. On the contrary, better feelings, visits, kindness and ending to breakups and feuds.  The messenger (PPBU) said : {the believers, they way their lover, feelings, and kindness is like the body whenever one organ suffers, the entire body attend to it with fever and sleeplessness.}

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

Slaves of Allah, the prayers, the prayers. Prayers are the main column of Islam. It keeps you off the bad and monstrous acts and sins. Keep it up in Allahs houses in congregations. For the first thing a slave is judged for in the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If is accepted all other acts and deeds are accepted. And if it was rejected all other acts are rejected.

And pay your zakah or charity with good feelings. This who does will receive blessings to his riches and money, and the good tidings to him/her with the good reward. While this who denies it then the blessings are removed off his money, and can look forward to a sever punishment.

And fast your month of fasting; and go for pilgrimage or Haj to Haram mosque; and you will enter paradise in peace. Remember that you must care for and treat well your parents and those of kin. Similarly take care of your wives and children, and servants and employees, and those in whom you are in charge. Give them their rights, and encourage and advice them to what’s beneficial to them. And spare them what is harmful to them. Allah says:

{You believers, protect your selves and your families from a fire, which is fueled by people and rocks, guarded by tough and rough angels, who never disobey Allah whenever He commands them, and they do what they are commanded.} Tahreem/6.

The messenger said: {Each one of you is a carer, and each of you is responsible for what he is in charged with}

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

O'Muslims, make sure you make no partners with Allah, either when you make a prayer, supplication or when you seek help and support. Whenever you make a sacrifice or a vow then make it to Allah alone. Never put any power of trust or dependency into any one or anything but into Allah. For this who does have partners with Allah in worship; Allah will prohibit him from entering paradise. Allah says: {whoever associate others with Allah, shall be forbidden form paradise, and his destiny shall be the fire. And those transgressors shall have no supporters} Ma-eda/72.

O' Muslims, Never kill a soul which Allah has made prohibited. The messenger said: {A Muslim is still with plenty of room to maneuver within his religion as long as he/she does not kill a prohibited blood}

O' Muslims do not deal in usury or interests in money loans. That brings the anger of God. It destroys the blessings off your money and your lives. Allah says: {you who have faith, fear Allah and give up what’s left of usury if you are true believers. If you do not then be warned by war by Allah and His messenger} 2-278/279.

The messenger of Allah (PPBU) said: {Reba or Usury has seventy odd doors, The easiest of them is like having intercourse with ones mother).

Also do not go near adultery, for it is shame and hell fire. Allah says: {and do not go near adultery, it is a wrongful act and an evil route} Esraa-32.

The messenger of Allah (PPBU) said: {No other sin is greater with Allah after taking partners with Allah; more than a man placing his semen into a sinful vulva).

Also do not do the act that the people of the prophet Loot did. Allah and His messenger curse not once but three times those who do.

Also, do not take all forms of drugs that affect your mind. They are course of destruction and necessitate the anger of God. It also turns a human into an animal who sees beauty as ugliness and sees ugliness as beauty. The messenger (PPBU) said: {Every thing that makes your drunk is illegal}

Be warned of Muslims money and transgression against them.

Be warned of the moneys of orphans and the poor. That is certain destruction and loss of money, and a certain later punishment in hell fire.

Be warned of talking in bad about the innocent girls and women.

Be warned of back biting and of talk about others of what they do not like. Be it be true or false. It is a transgression against a Muslim, and a sin and takes away rewards of good deeds. Allah has made it Haram.

Be warned being boastful and arrogant and proud, and showing off and feeling greater than others.

O' Muslim women, fear Allah, and obey Allah and his messenger. Keep up your prayers, obey your husbands, protect their rights upon you, be good to the neighbours. And bring up well your children.

Do not show off what you have got, and over expose, or unnecessarily mix with men. Cover your selves with modesty and you shall be winners; and you shall enter paradise with the good ones, and Allah will be happy and contented with you.

The messenger (PPBU) said: {if a woman prays her five prayers, and fasts her month, and does not have sex out side the marriage, and obeyed her husband, she will be told: Select the door you like to enter paradise}. And Allah says:

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar, No god but Allah, Allah Akbar, and thanks be to Allah.

May Allah give us the blessings of the Quran. And may He make us benefit from its verses and contents. And may Allah make us benefit from the guidance of the messenger.

I ask Allah's forgiveness for all of us.
