Deterring against evil

Translated by Dr. Faheem Bukhatwa

In the name of Allah most Gracious most Merciful.

The messenger of Allah (PPBU) said: [This who watches for the limits of Allah and this that breaks them are just like a group of men fought on a ship. They split into two groups, one went down the hull of the ship and the other group remained on deck. Every time those at the bottom needed water went up passed the other group and said: if we punch a hole in our part of the ship we will get water without hurting those above. If they let them do what they want they would all parish. And if they forcibly stop them they would all be saved]

Another story is the story of the people of the Sabbath. For Allah has made the Sabbath day a forbidden day for the Israelis. They were ordered to keep it solely for worshipping him and not to be occupied by any worldly matter. They disobeyed his commands and went on fishing on the Sabbath day. The Quran told that a group in the village did want them and advised against that.

The people in the village divided into three groups:

1)               One group disobeyed Allah’s command and broke through what he forbids.

2)               The second group advised and tried to stop the disobeying group.

3)               A third group that did not disobey Allah nor did any thing to advice the group committing the aggression.

Talking about the three groups the Quran says {When they forgot what they were reminded of, we saved those who advised against the aggression, while we took those who transgressed with deplorable affliction because of their wrong doing. And when they arrogantly insisted doing what they were told not to do, We said: shamefully turn into monkeys.}

In those two Ayas of the Surat A’araf showed that the group that transgressed received punishment. The group that preached and advised was save by Allah. This shows without doubt that when Allah punishes some people he saves those who do the obligation of promoting what is good and deterring what is wrong. The Quran did not mention the outcome of the third group that did not violate the sanctity of Sabbath nor deterred those who did. Some scholars are with the opinion that they were saved too. And other scholars are with the opinion that they too received the same punishment. They took what the messenger PPBU was reported saying: “encourage the right and deter against the wrong, or else Allah would almost send a punishment upon you, then you would make duaa and you are not answered.”

If a punishment befalls, it will include everyone and not be limited to the guilty member only. Allah said: {be warned against a temptation or enticement that will not affect only those who transgressed, and let it be known that Allah is mighty at punishment}. The messenger also said: {the people if they see one who transgresses and they do not constrain him, Allah tends to rush with an inclusive punishment to all}

Dear brothers and sisters, This religion will only keep on strong with much effort and strife, resilience, promoting the right and deterring the wrong, hard work and struggle. This religion needs people who would do their best to attract people to it. To save people from worshipping other people to worshiping the God of all people and worshipping no one else. To testify the absolute power of Allah on earth, and to activate the shariaa law of Allah within the lives of the people, and enlighten people to live by it.

Allah, let us be guidance to others, and do not let us misguide others.

Allah, let us listen and let us obey what we hear.

Allah, give us wisdom in what we do

Allah, clear us from all bad

Forgive us, forgive our parents, and all our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Allah gives us the good in this life and give us the good in the life after and protect us from the hell fire.

Ameeeen
